When I get back and have a chance to draw breath I'm going to be revamping and reworking and totally updating my web site with the help of the lovely Terescia Harvey and Heather Reed from We Write Romance and HR Web Concepts. So I was wondering - what do you want to see when you visit an author's web site?
What are the most important things for you?
Book news?
Covers?
Publishing dates?
Excerpts?
Contests?A Day in the life - or a blog?
I'd love to know. Please post your ideas and let me know what you'd hope And I'll be giving out some prizes in a draw for everyone who posts
Thanks! I'll be interested to see what you say

I hope you have a good weekend.
Websites. Well, aside from the usual book news, excerpts, covers and so on, one thing I do like (and miss on some authors' websites) is a proper backlist, one which not only lists the titles in order but which also notes any titles that are linked.
Sometimes we are lucky enough to find a new author whose work really grabs us and we want to read the books we have missed - preferably in the right order, especially if they are linked or part of a mini series.
I know it isn't possible to give excerpts for all books, especially for prolific authors such as yourself, but a list with pub date and a note about which titles are linked, is exceedingly welcome.
Love,
Mags
Hi Kate,
I love seeing the covers and reading the excerpts, plus the pub dates. Blogs are fun, you can see what the writer's up to. Pretty well all you mentioned makes up a good author site in my mind :)
Dear Kate, I lost and then found your blog!! An author's website:
Book news - new releases, all books published with covers and an excerpt if possible.
Definitely a blog.
Behind the scenes - I like to know what inspired a character or a setting eg, like Ally Blake has for her books.
Competitions are great, and I like them , and I have won a few!! but they are not the reason I like to read authors' sites - I like to get the dirt, the gos, the inside story, the first information about a new book!!!
Hope this is helpful!!!
I love reading excerpts and blogs. I enjoy reading authors blogs and getting to know more about them. I also enjoy the newsletters. I also enjoy book news & dates they are cming out, and contests are always fun as well. I think it's really nice that authors have contests.
HUGSSSS

Thank you to everyone for their comments - I'm noting the answers and learning and I hope to put the ideas into practice when my site is revamped.
Those videos etc are fascinating, blue - but I always worry that they'd take up so much time! Will look into them though
I like to see what's new and coming soon.
Reviews and awards. What your readers are saying

And for those of us in the US I like how you let us know when your books are going to be released.
Contests, of course
Your bio is always interesting and of course pics of Sid. Sir Winston loves seeing those
