My Writing Space

It's been a crazy week - again! This time the builders were working on both the kitchen and the bathroom . . . no water. no shower, no loo . . .   Not funny.
And there were men everywhere -  joiners building units, electricians putting in lights,  plumbers plumbing, tilers  tiling . . . so I rarely got a chance to get to my office, never mind blog.

But talking about my office - today I have an extra post over at the Pink Heart Society Blog  where I'm blogging about my home again - but about a very different  room this time - the place where I write - my workspace.

So if you want a change from the building site I've been living in- I know I do!  - if you visit the Pink Heart blog today you can see where I'm sitting as I write this and what my surroundings are like.

Progress . . .

Having the house revamped can swallow up your life!  I've had a week filled with plumbers, plasterers, electricians, joiners . . . cleaning up brick dust,
trying to survive on meals microwaved in the living room!  From being too cold, without any heating, I now have heat - lots of it and it's a real irony that as soon as we turned it on the weather went to really mild - 13 - 16 degrees! So now it's TOO warm!  One extreme to another.

But it's better than when it was way too cold! And at least we can now see that progress is being made.

<------  For example  this

Now looks like this        ----->

Which looks rather more civilised!  I'm told it will be almost completed by the end of the week  . . .. can't wait!

Of course there's still the bathroom to do!

Did the earth move?

Well, apparently it did - according to the reports on the BBC News this morning:

The biggest earthquake in the UK for nearly 25 years has shaken homes across large parts of England.
People in Newcastle, Yorkshire, London, Manchester, the Midlands and Norfolk and also parts of Wales, felt the tremor just before 0100 GMT.
The British Geological Survey (BGS) said magnitude of 5.3 and the epicentre was near Market Rasen in Lincolnshire.

Market Rasen is just down the road from us. And I've already had several concerned enquiries from lovely friends who were worried about us.

So I'll just say here that we're all fine, and I haven't spotted any damage. The only effect of it was waking in the night and thinking what on earth is that noise? But I was so tired I went back to sleep again.

Quite annoying, really, as I missed most of perhaps one of the most dramatic natural events in this area.

But thankfully no one was hurt, no cats scared - and actually, even if we'd had any broken windows it wouldn't have mattered as we are having them all replaced in 3 weeks.

I'm so glad that it seems no one anywhere was seriously hurt - and I wish I had noticed more but it's all my latest hero's fault that I didn't as he is giving me such a hard time trying to write his story that I was worn out when I went to bed and missed most of the drama.
