February 9th 2007
So today is the anniversary of the very first day I posted in the blog. February 9th 2006.It's been quite a year.
In that time we've had Lions and Tigers
And contests -bookbags and Christmas stockings
and author friends and
new authors
and authors who are so welcome back
And we had cats and dogs -
-a very special
Cat of Superior Breeding
and a wonderful Guide dog in training
called Uffa
Then we had Hugh's Day
and Hugh-in-a-towel
(who could forget Hugh-in-a towel?)
And we've had hedgehogs
And Hearts - Dancing Pink Hearts
And there were the Brides and the Grooms
There were blogs - And of course there were books - new books, old books, books I've read, books I want to read - books coming up - writing books - 'How to write' books - and some ideas on how to write books.
So was it fun for you? Was it interesting ? Are there things I didn't talk about that you wanted to know? Things you wish I'd said more about?
Now's your chance. Today is the Blog Birthday Bonanza - and because I'm celebrating, I'm also offering prizes . All you have to do is to post a comment on today's post. Just tell me what you've enjoyed in this blog over the past year - and if there's anything you'd like to see a post about then mention that.
And then I'll get A Cat of Superior Breeding and his friends, Bob, Spiff and Dylan to pick some winners and the winners will receieve a signed copy of their choice of my backlist of books.
Happy Blog Birthday to you - I'm looking forward to the next year!

And I remember the haunted house bit.
I enjoy all your posts, you know that.
And as I had a v small hand in pushing you towards this blog, I am so v pleased that it has worked. It is always a must read addition to my morning!
Happy 1st Birthday!
Ever since reading your 12 point guide, I've popped over most days to see what you're getting up to and we've had similar events.
New books written (though mine have been non-fiction and aspiring romance), great books that have been read and lost loves and new ones.
We lost our beloved labrador, Lucy, aged eleven, and gained a cute little black kitten called Magic, who would suggest that her breeding may not have been superior, but it sure as hell as given her the most nutty, insane character you could ever imagine in a feline.
She tries to help me type. often clearing whole pages for me.
Just wanted to say, thanks for all your interesting posts, your wonderful words of inspiration and I'll look forward to reading many more.
All the best.

Happy Bloggiversary!! My friend's daughter trains Guide dogs and she was just being interviewed on the radio this morning!! Looking forward to your next Blogging Year!!!
Am I too late?! (logged off too early last night).
I've been checking out your blog since about last November having also been inspired by the wonderful 12 point guide. I have been on quite a few journeys via the links you have flagged up and really enjoy being a member of PHS, getting all that lovely free information and tips. I have bought and read books by authors I would not have done otherwise. For example you told us about Abby Green and Christina Hollis. I have just amazoned my first ever Day Leclaire novel, if you love her she must be great!
Natasha Oakley is the reason I started visiting here. Her writing comes off the page and sounds like my own voice, it's lovely and effortless reading. I decided to find out a bit more about her and lo and behold she was recommending the 12 point guide. Which is famously brilliant, so of course then I had to buy up lots of 'Kate Walkers''to continue my 'studying' didn't I? A jolly nice time I've been having doing it too!
Congratulations on your 1st birthday. I'm sure all your regular visitors appreciate the time you take out to let us know what is happenning in your world.
Is there to be a (purely celebratory) large cake?
Rach.
Happy 1st Blog Birthday.
I love reading your blog. Your writing tips are insightful. I love reading about Sid and the hedgehogs. I love to hear of your journeys.
Thanks for sharing your world with your readers.
Happy Blog Birthday!
I must say that I enjoyed the visits from your characters...gave me new insight into the books!
Happy happy birthday Kate! I've loved the brides and grooms contests and the peeks into your life as an author you've given us.
I have enjoyed all of your comments on your blog but especially liked the photos. I've never seen a hedgehog before-we don't have them here in Arizona.
Happy Birthday
Your blog has given me pleasure and enjoyment, the pics, the books and Sid.
My favorite part is the hedgehog. And I don't suppose you're surprised!
No, actually, Kate, the whole year has been a wonderful one. I've had so much fun doing the contest on the brides and grooms with you and Liz. And I'm looking forward to more good stuff in the year to come.
And really, how could I not name SID?
By the way, I found another box of your books in my attic (see, it's a wonderful thing, this attic cleaning business). So if you want me to give away books from the US, speak up!
I've just recently discovered your blog. But I plan on being a regular visitor (got it bookmarked).
A Big Happy Blog Birthday!
And without knowing the Blogs history I have to say I just love animals in blogs. Please include lots of pictures. And of course I'd love lots of pictures of Hugh too!
Hi Kate, Loved the Most Haunted blogs and who couldn't love Sid?
Happy blog birthday Kate. My youngest sister shares this birhtday with you, so now I shall never forget you blogday. I drop by everyday to catch up with what you've been up to. It brings me a little closer to home. I too love seeing the hedgehogs and your wonderful family of pets.
Chris.
Ditto to Anne's comment, the whole year has been wonderful, you are so generous introducing us to new things and authors and most important, Sid is still such zn important part of all of this! Happy celebrations!
I have enjoyed your website and now your wonderful blog. Very interesting and entertaining especially with Sid. Happy First and all the best.
Thank you to everyone for your comments - Sid and the hedgehogs are well pleased to be so popular.
Michelle - yes you did give me a push in the direction of blogging anf I'm so glad you did. Thank you!
I'm off to Ireland today so please forgive the rushed one size fits all post
Sid and co have picked the winners - they said they would have happily picked more because they hadn't had quite enough crunchies !
I've announced the results on my blog
Thank you all for joining in. Congratulations to the winners and if you didn't win this time, I'm sure there will be another blog contest soon - so watch this space
