Remember Ms Claudia Connell's not too accurate article?
Well, it's got some romance novelists riled. And quite rightly so, because they are far from getting their blue rinse yet! (Do hairdressers even do that any more... surely it's got to be a dying fashion?). So much so Kate Johnson aka Cat Marsters urges us to post photos on our blogs and to advertise it everywhere!
So - Ms Connell - This is what a romantic novelist looks like -
And this - Kate Johnson
and this - Julie Cohen
And Talli Roland
And 3 for the price of one Heidi Rice, Sharon Kendrick, Brigid Coady
And Jan Jones (with Roger/Gill Sanderson)
I could go on but I have a book - sorry - an 'M&B Bodice Ripper'- to write - so on Twitter - and Facebook too
PS If in amongst bthese great pics, you find a Romantic Novelist who does have a blue rinse - please let me know. I'll offer a copy of one of my books as a prize!
And here's another journalist's point of view - well worth reading

What a wonderful response.
Whenever people tear down romance fiction (or any type of popular fiction), I honestly wonder how insecure and unhappy they must be to feel threatened by people they don't know working hard to entertain and bring happiness to millions of people.
Can't get hold of a blue rinse anywhere. Does that mean I can't be a romantic novelist? Blast... there I was raring to go, found the pearls, ignored the twin set..... maybe blond to hide the grey highlights would do instead. must ask .......
Gosh, what very glamourous women these all are (apart from Roger, of course)!
Great pics - not a blue rinse in sight!
I should add my own face to that - I've written romance too, albeit yet unpublished. But still!
Grrr - I read that article - and it was a load of tosh! Caroline x
Thank you Jill. It's not my idea but clever Kate Johnson's - and the This is What A Romantic Novelist Looks Like campaign is growing. I agree with you about people who rubbish popular fiction - or films or TV - I am so proud of the fact that so many thousands of people enjoy what I write.
Hi TT - I haven't been able to find a blue rinse anywhere either. Perhaps the Daily Mail reporter knows something we don't? But a friend locally is planning on opening a 'retro' hair salon - perhaps they might offer blue rinses there?
Hi Sharon - of all the glamoprous romantic novelists I know you are definitely someone who fits that description. And you were at the RNA party so how did the reporter miss you? She obvioulsy wasn't looking - had her mind set on blue rinses and twinsets
Hello Rachael - they are great pics - and no one has yet claimed my prize for finding a Romantic Novelist with a blue rinse . . . does this mean I have to give a prize to the DM reporter? Hope not - but no, I don't believe she saw any blue rinses at the party either!
gaelikaa - please do add your photo to the page - it was the RNA which was given such an inaccurate write up - and the RNA includes not yet published writers as well as the published ones
Absolutely, Carolie - total tosh! I half considered never mentioning it because doing so gives it publicity - but then I thought that if we don't challenge such prejudices adn stereotypes, that's how they come to persist. And it was so wrong! I keep waiting for the DM to post the rest of the comments on that article - I know there were more than the 24 shown
