Great - so I've been sitting here, waiting, frustrated - hoping to be able to post - and not been able to log on. At last, things seem to be sorted, and I'm able to post again. Let's hope it lasts.

Personally I buy a variety and choose ones that I think will suit the person I'm sending it to. But I do always buy cards from charities so that I hope I can help a little bit as well.

I am most drawn to cards where Christmas imagery is combined with something unexpected. Two that I have come across stand out. The first shows a tiny South Pacific island with palms growing by the beach, a rolling surf and Christmas lights on the sailboat mast.
The second shows elderly, worried looking parents sitting on the sofa with Santa, and the caption: "Son we think you should see someone about this."
It is snowing in Vancouver today and since I used the last of the sugar in my baking last night and do not want to venture out to the store I have had to call my friend who is coming for tea and ask her to bring her own sugar.
Usually I make most of my Christmas cards, but that's been impossible this year as I haven't had enough spare time. (We're moving to a smaller house so I'm having to do some serious de-cluttering.)
I like to have a selection of cards so that I can match them to the recipient. However, I tend to have two favourite themes for cards - cats and snow.
I used to try to print my poems inside the cards, but I've since realized that printers don't align the cards well every single time. So now I print my yearly-update poem on the laser printer and cut it to fit inside the cards. Much easier/cost effective.
I prefer a variety of cards so that all my extended family doesn't get the exact same card. I also prefer bigger than 4x6 cards so that photos can fit inside too.
I like to mix up my Christmas cards by doing a little of the old and new together. It depends who I am sending the card to because I know some of my family members would appreciate the more religious aspect on a Christmas card.

When I buy Christmas cards they have to be traditional, even though most don't apply to Christmas in Australia.

I am a traditional Christmas card girl. I prefer the ones with images of trees,snow,Santa,or reindeer on the front the inside needs to be blank as I also use special cursive writing to put the message inside.Merry Christmas and thank you so much for the giveaway.
Enjoyed reading the comments. I like traditional cards. It seems that a lot of people are not sending cards like they used to. However, I send them to my friends that I don't get to see very often.
