Advent Calendar Book Giveaway Day 21

Time has got away from me - and I can't find Sid!

So here's the Advent Calendar book and question for today - and you can still answer yesterday's if you want until I can find The Cat and then I'll announce winners when I have them Today's book is The Greek Tycoon's Unwilling Wife 2007

He thought she was his mistress . . .

Recuperating on his private Greek island after a car crash, Andreas Petrakos had no memory of the previous year. The last thing he remembered was his passionate affair with beautiful Rebecca Ainsworth.

. . . when actually she was his wife!

Becca returned to the island because Andreas had asked for her. But she had to hide the truth from him. So what would happen when he recalled throwing Becca out - on their wedding day - for a reason only he knew?

And the question?

Tell me about the best present you've ever been given - big or small.
It doesn't have to be expensive - but something - the best things often aren't costly! Something that meant a lot to you and that you treasure - perhaps because of who it came from.

Or perhaps, like Charlie and Flora - because they bring so much joy every day.

The best present I had was a few years ago, when my mum had a new mechanical valve fitted in her heart. She came out of hospital 2 days before Christmas a totally different person than the (sickly) one that went in. Much to our relief. Caroline xx

Hello Kate

The best present I ever got (material wise off course as memories and having my family means more to me) would be a handwoven bracelet that I got from my dad upon his first visit home whilst working in Iraq. It was December 2004 and he had been gone for about 4 months , so he comes home with this bracelet and gives it to me, I have not removed it since as I am very close with my dad and this way it feels like he is always with me no matter where he is. So not a expensive gift in currency sense but in sentimental value!

He returned home in 2008 safe and sound and unharmed but the bracelet remains on my arm because it came from him and he is my hero and just last week was given a Purple hart which I think is so very cool!

Have a great day and thank you for the great contest and I hope you find the cat soon !And thank you for today's question just like the others I had fun giving my answer!

All the best

My first thought was a high-school ring. I came home one day to find a gift half wrapped on the kitchen table, so I continued wrapping it. (I love to wrap -- and "rap", LOL!) My family thought I had looked inside, but I hadn't (nor could I when it was already partially wrapped). I loved that ring - until I lost it in my first apartment at 21 years of age, and then I moved to my next apartment with my new husband.

After thinking of this story, I realized I SHOULD have said it was Dec 25/80 when my husband proposed to me in front of my parents. He asked, I was stunned (as I was 21 and we'd only been dating 4 months), and my MOTHER answered that yes I would marry him. After finally finding words, I said I would give him my answer in two weeks, as it was totally unexpected. (DUH!) Two days later, I said yes, after writing out a list of why I wanted to be married, why I didn't want to be married, why I wanted to marry HIM, and why I didn't want to marry him. The amazing thing? There were about four times more reasons NOT to get married, but I realized that the quality was worth more than the quantity on the lists. We celebrate our 30th anniversary in 2011, and our marriage just keeps getting better and better.

My best present was a trip home for Christmas. It was great to spend that Christmas with family and old friends.

I think that my best Christmas gift was in 2006. A few days before Christmas we decided to adopt the feral kitten we'd been fostering for Cats Protection for three months. He was the grumpiest kitten we'd ever fostered, but we knew that he belonged here. He's now a big, handsome cuddle puss and totally adorable.

Well, you could say that my Kitty was the best present a decade ago, but I got her on my Spring break and it was the day after St. Patrick's Day, so she wasn't exactly a present. Although with the amount of time she is spending sleeping under the tree, she probably think she is one. ;)

But one of my favorites was a a couple of years into college, and that was the one thing that started my collection... of Rubber Duckies. I got my first rubber duckie then, it was either for Christmas or my Birthday since they are both in the same week (oh, like tomorrow), but regardless... seeing how I love Ernie from Sesame Street, and he has a rubber duckie, yep, that was a favorite present. Have gotten quite a few since then, too. :)

Oh, this year, my friend went to England and said she got me something. She bought it over today and it was two cross stitch magazines.

I was estatic as they don't have such wonderful cross stitch magazines here in Germany. As I was looking through them...I wanted to get my supplies out and start stitching.

The best present I ever received was a sharp pair of scissors from my sister about twenty years ago. I was allowing a friend who was studying to become a hairdresser to cut my hair for practise and my sister said that it was always better in these cases to have a good sharp scissors of my own.

Twenty years later I still have that scissors. My kids use it for their school crafts and all. I think it's amazing.

The best present I get is in this holidays, when my daughter helps in housework so I can spend more time on my computer!

Before this I was a closet writer so this holidays the support I'm getting from my husband and daughter is awesome!
Apart from that the books I receive always makes a place in my heart.

The best Christmas present was one I received as an open-me-now gift the first year that I wasn't going to be with my parents at Christmas time. My husband had been transferred across the country. He was working retail at that time so there was just one day off. My younger brother refurbished the old Christmas angel that had been on the top of my parents tree throughout my childhood and they sent it to me. It graced the top of our tree until we stopped putting a tree up. I still have it and it is still a treasure.
