Advent Calendar Giveaway Day 4

The winner of yesterday's Advent Calendar prize - a copy of Mistress Material - goes to CHEY!
So Chey please email me - Kate AT kate-walker.com with your postal address and I'll sort that out for you.

Thank you all for your responses yesterday. It really wasn't a condition of entry that you had to include my name in your list of three - honest! But I was honoured by the number of you who did. And I agree that it is like choosing one of your children. So now you know what it feels like to be asked which of my books is my personal favourite.

That's just not possible to answer. But there are some books which are very special to me and they're more easy to list. Obviously, The Chalk Line which was my very first published title ever - or the book that is today's giveaway prize. The Sicilian's Red-Hot Revenge is a book I will always remember specially because, as many of you who have been reading this blog for a while will remember, this was my 50th title published back in 2007. And I can say quite honestly that this has one of my favourite ever covers. I love it.
I've chosen this as the prize this morning because I really think we need something red-hot to warm us up with the snow still so very dep outside and temperatures of -4 predicted for the rest of the weekend.

They shared one night of passionate lovemaking. Then in the cold light of day, her secret tore them apart. Now Vito has come back – and he’s determined to have his revenge.

Emily Lawton never expected to see him again. But Vito Corsentino has tracked her down and he wants Emily. This time he’ll take her and he’ ll be the one to leave when it’s over.
But Emily has one last secret for Vito . . . She’s having his baby and if he finds out, he’ll want more than revenge!

The Sicilian's Red-Hot Revenge is Part Two of the Sicilian Brothers duo, and obviously it's Vito's story. The other part of this series is Sicilian Husband, Blackmailed Bride - Guido's story.

And the question for today's Advent Calendar giveaway is - The Sicilian's Red-Hot Revenge was a very special, landmark book for me - my 50th published title - so I celebrated that event with other writers, friends and family. And of course this year I've been celebrating my 25th year as a published author. Today I'd like to know - what special event (big or small) have you celebrated in 2010 - or are looking forward to celebrating in 2011.

Answers, as always, in the comments section.

And to answer Nicolettte's question - yes, you are allowed to keep on entering/answering right up until Christmas - I'd love to see your answers. And Sid will be happy to have plenty of cat treats to choose from.
One other thing - for those of you who are interested in the newly-released third edtion of the 12 Point Guide to Writing Romance , keep your eyes open all over the internet for special contests/giveaways for this special book in the run-up to Christmas. Several people/bloggers/writes I know will be offering a chance to win a copy over the next couple of weeks.

Here are two of them to start with:
The contest is already running
And coming next week:

There will be more - or you could just put a copy of this book on your list to Santa and hope to find it in your Christmas Stocking!
It's available to order from any good bookshop or on Amazon /Book Depository/ Amazon.com etc

Hi Kate,
the biggest event this year for me was the birth of my two wonderful grandchildren!

I agree about needing something red-hot, right now we have very much snow and rather cold here in northern Europe, it's not usual in the beginning of December.

Next year, we'll be celebrating my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. When they got married, they didn't have a lot of money and had a registry office wedding, no honeymoon, no wedding reception and no wedding cake, so I've arranged to have an absolutely massive, yet gorgeous wedding anniversary cake made, because my mums always gone on about she wished she'd had a cake. Can't wait.

Hi Kate. My big event earlier this year was getting married. Fast forward 8 months, and the next big event me and the DH are facing (but with big smiles on our faces) is the fact that we have just bought a brand new bungalow. Mid January 2011 (fingers crossed) we should be moving in! Talk about stress though! Caroline x

Hi Kate!

I didn't really have any big events in 2010, but coming up in January 2011 is the possibility of an exciting new job (fingers crossed!) and also in the summer of 2011 the wedding of one of my favourite cousins! It's shaping up to be a good year!

My special event for 2010 was joining a monthly meeting of Exes from my high school called the Tiger Lunch Bunch. Our high school was permanently closed years ago and it is great getting together each month, sharing a meal and remembering the great times we had together in high school. Then in October we had a large reunion with over 100 present, some coming from out of state. On December 11th, we are going to have a Christmas party,
with each bringing a gift...the men a gift for a man...the women bringing a gift for a woman...there will be what is called a Chinese gift exchange. It has been absolutely fabulous getting together with all of these
Exes and their spouses. Since the group consists of students from various years, hubby and I have gained a host of new friends and what could make a year more special? Some of us now even keep in touch by email.

I'm in your newsletter group. Just got your newsletter and decided to pop on over. I just love Charlie Rumpuss. Dylan, Sid and Flora are great looking cats as well. Amber, Saxon and Dash are our bosses.

My best moment of the year so far came as a total surprise when I was reading a Harlequin Blaze called Balzing Bedtime Stories Volume IV by Kimberly Raye and Samantha Hunter. Part way into Samantha's story the heroine's girlfriend came in bearing pizza and beer. The girlfriend's name was Kaelee. I was so excited. My real name is Linda but when I started commenting on eHarlequin's site there were a lot of Linda's around so I used my husband's and my initials to create an ID for myself. I really was so happy to see the name used for a best friend.

Hi, Kate!

The first thing that came to my mind is that my special event is weight related. I recently celebrated losing 14 pounds since Oct 29/10 (as I scream out loud "YES!!!" for each pound lost). I lost 26 pounds last year and gained it all back this summer when I had company visit (and shortly thereafter), so I am REALLY looking forward to hitting the 30-pound mark.

And then that reminded me of what I probably should have listed as my first celebration: my DH and I will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary in July/11 .

Boy, would it be nice to be past the 30-pound mark by then. There would be so much to celebrate....

Hi Kate

2010 has been a great year for me with the birth of another grandchild that makes 5 and there is another one due in April next year around my birthday what a special event.
I am also looking forward to The Australian Romance Readers Convention being held at Bondi in March next year I attended the first one in 2009 in Melbourne and had such a great time can't wait till ARRC2011.

As for weather it is muggy and rainy here in Sydney Australia I would love some of your snow at the moment just a bit though LOL.

I am a member of the newsletter group as well

Have Fun
Helen

It's not been the easiest year for us as we lost Polly, our diabetic cat, to cancer in May. We've also had a lot of worry as my sister had a brain haemorrhage in October 2009. (She's doing fine thankfully.)

Our biggest celebration was quite a small thing, but made us smile a lot. We found out that Forrest, our youngest cat, has his photo in Cats Protection 2011 calendar.

The biggest event for me this year wasn't restricted to something personal but rather countrywide.

South Africa was the host nation of the FIFA World Soccer Cup this year and all the extra visitors from all around the world, all the colour and events happening of course the chance to see so many famous soccer players was just great.

It was celebrated all over the country and was really a fabulous event.

Thanks for the giveaways.

Hello, Kate,

My big celebration will occur in
April of 2011. On the 8th, Honey
and I will celebrate our fiftieth
wedding anniversary! That's right,
50 years have gone by since the day
we were married. Of course, when
one goes into a marriage a 50th
anny celebration is just so far in
the future that one really doesn't
think about it. Well, now it will
soon be here and we have almost 5
months to decide on how we will
celebrate! Oh my!!
