Advent Calendar Giveaway Day 14

Eeeek! Is it really Day 14? It's getting awfully close to the 25th - and I'm not in the least bit organised. I have akitten fascinated by a small tree I have in my hall - I'd still have to plough through some snow to get to the big one. He's going to love that! And we're promised (threatened?) there will be more of the white stuff coming down on Thursday/Friday - but the old stuff hasn't disappeared yet.

So I'm in a bit of a dash today as I'm heading into town for what I hope will be some last bits and pieces. I'm making a list and I'm checking it twice . .

So quickly on to yesterday's winner - and the name Sid picked out is Debby. (Debby 236)

Debby - I loved the idea of your special Christmas jumper. I hope that there will one of your kids home to see you wearing it. If not, then perhaps the prize of The Spaniard's Inconvenient Wife will give you something to enjoy at Christmas.

Email me please and let me know your postal address

Today's prize is a two in one with one of the most glorious covers of any collection my books have been in. It's an Australian reprint and the book of mine that's in it is the same that was in Mistresses Shackled with Rubies which was won over on Tote Bags 'N' Blogs so here's another chance to win Her Secret Bridegroom (2000) in today's Latin Lovers.

It's in this lovely collection with Claiming His Wife by Diana Hamilton.

Bride by deception!

After a whirlwind wedding in Venice, Amy discovered that her brand-new husband had only married her to gain a priceless old ring. Fleeing Italy, Amy never told anyone of her marriage to ruthless billionaire Vincenzo Ravenelli.
Four years later, while Amy knew she'd never really love another man as she loved Vincenzo, she needed to be free of the past. The time had come to return to Venice and confront her secret bridegroom . . .

And today's question is inspired by the fact that I've just had some Italian and Portugese reprints arrive - both for the same book. - a very appropriate one for this time of year. It's a book from 2002 called The Christmas Baby's Gift

So today's question is - do you love special Christmas stories at this time of year, or are do you have too much festive holly and tinsel around already so you don't want any more?

Tell me about your favourite Christmas story books - romance or not - in the comments to be in with a chance to win.

My favourite book for this time of year is "Winter Solstice" by Rosamunde Pilcher. It's perfect for curling up in front of the fire on a snowy day in the run up to Christmas.

I was really excited to find out that there was a film version on DVD. Unfortunately it was rubbish and bore very little resemblance to the book. I can never work out why they do that.

Hello Kate

I can never get enough of the Christmas holly and cheer !! It is the time to remember the birth of Jesus so I want as much holly and tinsel as I can get !!

My favorite book is The Night before Christmas !! I love telling the story to my son it is just so much fun how you can change the sound of your voice and act out scenes from a Christmas book or any other book for kids !!

But I am not forgetting the Christmas stories from Harlequin they are always the best it just fits in so nicely with the time of year !And they always have a very important message with regards to what Christmas is really about !

Have a great day

Oh my! That is a beautiful cover.

I really love Christmas books and since there are so many of them I do read them year round. Harlequin feeds my need for them.

My favorites books include Marilyn Pappano's nine books series about Bethlehem New England. They have an angel in them. I also love Debbie Macomber's angel books starring Shirley, Goodness and Mercy.

One of my favorite stories is Gift of the Magi. This has to be among the best Christmas stories.

Are you kidding me, Kate? You want me to remember the name of a book? A Christmas book? Not happenin'! I don't remember what I had for lunch yesterday, so how would I remember that, LOL?

As for my stories, I love to read Christmas stories all year round. I never get too much of them. Ever. (BTW, I also sing Christmas carols - when alone - all year round too!)

Oh! Oh! I re-read your post. Doesn't have to be a Christmas romance, so yes, I CAN tell you a book. You'll think this is silly, but here goes anyway (if you can't be silly with your friends, who can you be silly with?): Noddy Goes to Toyland by Enid Blyton. I have a copy in front of me from 1954 (before my time, I hasten to add, but given to my BIL and then to me because I enjoyed it so much).

Hi Kate,

Thank you for my prize which arrived today. I shall read it very soon.

Getting post is still a bit of a novelty here as when the weather was at its worst we went ten days without any post being delivered or collected in the village.

I like to read Christmas books in the summer when there's no snow on the ground!

Ok.....I've read a lot of Christmas stories. I can't remember the titles...oh my.

But, my one favourite Christmas story is The Christmas Story from the Bible which we read together every year before opening our presents.

Hi Kate,

I've actually stopped reading romance books with a Christmas theme because I find that they move too fast and you don't really learn what happens to the couple after the Christmas season. At least this is how the last couple of Presents books I've read have been. It's fine if the characters meet at Christmas time and then their story progresses from there past the holidays, but usually they only span the week leading up to Christmas day and I find the ending somewhat lacking. But that's just me!

I haven't got a particularly favourite book for this time of the year, but if I had to choose one it would probably be a Christmas Carol.

Well, this time of year I bring out my previous year favorite Christmas books and add any new ones from this year. One of my first Christmas romances is by Vicki Lewis Thompson (Tis The Season), and that ones is always a guaranteed reread and favorite.

Hi Kate, I've never had much choice over the years, I would buy whichever books on special. I'm a reader, so I have to have books. I'm not sure if anybody can understand what I mean. If I couldn't get a book, I just go to my shelf and pick out a book...it could be any! So no, I read books all year around and any book. Even holiday times, I need books. At times upto 2 a.m. night I'm reading. Christmas stories, if I get them in June, July... I still enjoy them.
